In this episode we covered lots of ground with our guest Andrea Lechner-Becker, formerly the CMO of Shift Paradigm. She has been a hands-on Ops practitioner, a consultant, a champion and a CMO. She has a unique perspective on all things Marketing Operations.
One of the best insights from the conversation had to do with how hard it is to get the "right" reporting for marketing. She makes the case that part of the challenge is the complexity of the data and systems. The other big challenge she identified is the lack of a consensus on what the right reporting is. Contrast that to finance and accounting where everyone is taught the same set of principles and rules.
Speaking of finance, we also get into the importance of having basic finance literacy and a basic understanding of statistics.
